What is an ENT?

Earth & Nature Trusts and Trustees

An ENT (Earth & Nature Trust/Trustee) is modeled like a tree: deep roots in the DeviENT Mycelial Network of relationships and histories, a bright star of guiding values overhead, a resilient core to weather change, and branches, leaves and fruit in the form of projects, gatherings and value-for-value exchange that help people, places and living systems endure and thrive.

Every generation begins as Beneficiary, then matures into Trustee, responsible for passing on a livable world. ENTs register through Join the Network, with steward review before most listings go live, and renew through the Equinox Protocol renewal cycle.

Each ENT chooses its type, its privacy level, and the practices and offerings it shares with the wider web of trust.

What is The Hum?

Live pulses from the DeviENT Mycelial Network

Signals are live pulses from ENTs (Earth & Nature Trusts and Trustees) sharing events, offerings, needs and experiments in value-for-value exchange.

The Hum is the living community feed where ENTs post essays, events, offerings, classifieds, and announcements to the whole DeviENT Mycelial Network.

Seek or share — The Hum is how the mycelial web stays alive, connected, and in conversation.

The Equinox Protocol

Trust through renewal

Every ENT renews its presence every 180 days — roughly two equinoxes. This keeps the directory alive, trustworthy, and free of ghost listings.

An ENT that misses its renewal window is marked overdue, then eventually set dormant and moved to the archive layer of the map.

Stewards receive reminder emails at 30 and 7 days before expiry. Renewal takes about 60 seconds and shows the whole network who is actively tending, who is in transition, and who has moved to the archive.

Practices & Offerings

How people find the right fit

Practices describe how an ENT works: skilled trades, small business, technology and media, design and the arts, health and care, teaching, food and hospitality, and many more.

Offerings describe what an ENT gives to the network: classes, tech support, design, writing, music, meeting space, crafted goods, and other value-for-value exchanges.

Use the Directory's filters to browse ENTs by practice and offering.

Privacy: Anchored vs Floating

You control your location data

Anchored ENTs have a fixed, public-facing location — a storefront, land, or accessible venue. Their pin appears at their real coordinates on the map.

Floating ENTs are place-agnostic or privacy-conscious: online groups, mobile businesses and freelancers, or groups that don't meet publicly. Their pin is placed at the center of their ZIP code area, not an exact address.

Contact emails are always kept private and never displayed. They're used for Equinox Protocol reminders and for notices when someone reaches you through Send Signal, delivered on-platform in your Messages without ever exposing your address.

Mycelial Relations

How ENTs connect to each other

Mycelial Relations are the trust bonds between ENTs — like fungal threads beneath the soil, invisible but vital. An ENT can declare itself an Ally, Parent, or Sibling of another ENT.

These connections form the DeviENT Mycelial Network: deep roots in shared histories, branches reaching toward shared futures. The more connections, the richer the web of trust.

Use the Relations Builder to link your ENT to others you trust. This is how the DeviENT Mycelial Network actually grows.
